On the beach or off the
beach, you'll find plenty to do in the Florida Gulf Coast sand and surf. Sunbathe, take
beach walks, build sand castles. Getting wet is easy, too, since the gentle waters of the
Florida Gulf Coast are just steps away. Fish from the beach, spend hours trying your luck
off a fishing pier or take a fishing excursion on a boat. Boating also is another popular
Gulf Coast pastime, with boats for hire. Want to try your sea hands and legs with a
windsurfer -- you can rent one of those, too.

Want to spend all your
Florida Gulf Coast time enjoying the beach? The wide sand beach stretches for miles north
and south of Indian Rocks Beach along this section of the Florida Gulf Coast. Yet, while
the beach is definitely a major attraction for visitors to the Gulf Coast, there's so much
more to do and see here that you're sure to find something different to enjoy every day of
your stay. |

You won't need binoculars
to watch the birds and other wildlife along the Florida Gulf Coast. Though wild, many of
Florida's feathered creatures have become so used to people, you may wonder whether the
birds are watching you. Along the beach you'll see flocks of sandpipers darting along the
edge of the surf, herons patiently wading at the edge of the shore, pelicans bouncing in
the Gulf waters near fishing piers and a wide variety of seagulls looking for whatever
handouts they can beg. |
| For spectator and
participant, there's no shortage of sports along the Florida Gulf Coast. World class golf
courses are nearby. So are miniature "putt-putt" courses. Bicyclists will enjoy
the tranquility of the Pinellas Trail. For baseball fans, there's the Tampa Bay Devil
Rays. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the area's National Football League franchise. Hockey
fans can watch the Tampa Bay Lightning and soccer enthusiasts can attend Tampa Bay Mutiny
games. |
 |
 |
Disney World is just 90
minutes away and the Ringling Brothers circus museum is an easy drive down the road to
Sarasota. But, if you want to stay closer to your vacation home, you can try Busch Gardens
in Tampa, the premiere theme park on the Florida Gulf Coast. Museums include the Salvador
Dali Museum, Florida International Museum, Museum of Science & Industry, Holocaust
Museum. Art galleries, concerts and live theater events are year-round. |
| Where to dine? The choices
are so many that even longtime residents of the Florida Gulf Coast can never sample more
than a fraction. If you enjoy cooking, you can dine in at your vacation rental. Or, try
Ybor City, Tampa's old historic district, where the bands play on and the food is served
until well after dark. Down the road, John's Pass has a wealth of restaurants. Seafood is
a specialty in all Gulf Coast neighborhoods. Italian, French or a burger -- you name it. |
